King David, Arthur Honegger's oratorio and symphonic psalm, narrated by Basil Rathbone.  King David was performed and recorded at least twice with Rathbone as narrator:

  • Ohio Wesleyan University, May 9, 1958. Directed by Prof. Rexford Keller, with Louise Natale (soprano), Beatrice Krebs (contralto) and Robert Price (tenor)
  • Akron, Ohio, 1958 (?). The Akron Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, directed by Lenough Anderson, with Jean Blair (soprano), Paula Clarke (contralto) and Jon Humphrey (tenor). Gama Records, two LPs

 Manfred (Schumann) - Baltimore Symphony, San Francisco Orchestra

The Murder of Lidice by Edna St. Vincent Millay -- narrated by Basil Rathbone, with Blanche Yurka and Czech and Slovak chorus (3 records, 78 rpm, Columbia Masterworks M-536). This is a poem written as a commemorative of the town of Lidice that was picked to be annihilated by the Nazis during World War II, as revenge for the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, known as the Hangman.
